Chapter 302 B4 | 75
Alexia
These scorpions are getting infuriating…
When I destroy their eyeballs, they go berserk and kill each other. But they get the credit when they do that. I don't get anything.
Even when I sneak in some attacks to try to steal credit, I've only succeeded a couple measly times. Which hasn't amounted to much EXP from the creatures.
So I take a short break from killing the scorpions just to analyze them a bit. To study their habits and everything I can about them.
And it takes a while, but I finally manage to learn something about the little creatures.
That being that the scorpions do actually have another weak point aside from their eyeball.
I purse my lips before deciding to just try and attack said weak point to see how it goes. And it certainly… uh, something certainly happens.
When I try to send tiny little spears of quantum energy inside of their stingers through energy manipulation, it ends up splattering the inside of their tail out through the stinger. Without actually harming their exterior armor in any way.
So I guess it worked?
The thing still isn't dead though, so I continue to throw more into the creature through the same opening. And more. And even more.
All the way until the scorpion finally dies.
I let out a sigh of relief at the sight of the stupid creature finally dying. Because it was a long time coming.
After that one, I move on to attacking other scorpions through the same method. Without destroying their eyeball, of course. Since that would just make the scorpion a target for other scorpions.
Fortunately the other scorpions don't seem to care when I destroy another scorpion's stinger. So long as I'm not destroying their eyes.
I can't help but wonder why these creatures jump on other scorpions when their eyeball is destroyed though… Unless it's some sort of pheromone inside of their eye that's doing it? A special scent that makes the scorpions attack when released, and is released through the destruction of their eye?
Honestly, I have no idea.
Anyways, while I go ahead and hunt the scorpions one by one, I can't help but wonder just how many other Champions are in the dungeon still. Since we've been in this dungeon for months now and the competition is still going on.
Just how long will this championship competition last anyways? Half a year? A year?
Maybe more?
Regardless of how long it lasts, I've at least managed to level up quite a bit.
My thoughts pause for a moment as I get another System Message about that very thing.
[Level 2011 Defeated. User's earned EXP has been increased a slight amount due to killing a being whose level is higher than their own.]
{Congratulations! You have leveled up to level 1975! Your Species has awarded you +2 VIT, +2 DEX, +2 STR, +2 MAG, and +2 MEN. Your Class has awarded you +1 VIT, +2 DEX, +1 STR, +2 MAG, and +2 MEN.}
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
[*New Passive Skill* – Quantum Vampirism: The user passively drains mana, health, and any other type of energy from everything they see. Be it other living beings, undead beings, or simple attacks. The user may then either merge the energy into their own body to refill their soul, or they may unleash it all in one powerful attack.]
Oh. That's very nice.
It's like an upgrade to Observation Effect Absorption in a way.
I just hope it absorbs it all faster than that skill does. Because it would be really nice if I could replace Observation Effect Absorption with something like this.
After all, Observation Effect Absorption only absorbs energy from attacks that happen around me. Meanwhile Quantum Vampirism absorbs everything from everything.
Too bad I'll have to wait a bit to be able to slot the skill.
Wait a second…
I narrow my eyes before glancing around to find Luna, only to remember that she's nowhere near me right now.
Doesn't Luna have a skill very similar to this? Except that she can absorb the energy and health of whatever she drains with her fangs?
I wonder if her skills are affecting mine?
Then again, it could also be the other way around. That my skills are affecting hers.
Hmm, well either way, they're good skills.
I go back to gradually killing the annoying scorpions one after another. All over the course of several hours.
Until I get a rather foreboding message from the System.
One I wasn't expecting at all.

Congratulations on being one of the last two surviving Champions within the Dungeon! In three hours, both surviving Champions will be summoned to a single planet created for the purpose of the final battle. There the two Champions will battle it out for the position of last remaining Champion. Huh. I guess I'll be fighting against Lucas. A part of me feels… oddly excited at that thought. But another part of me feels slightly irritated at the idea of my hunt against the scorpions being interrupted. I'm really glad I have my mini-map… otherwise I'd never be able to find my way back here if I'm not sent straight back here after the duel. Or after the banquet, that is. In all likelihood, I'll probably be sent outside of the dungeon once that banquet ball thing is over. Then I'll have to reenter it again and find my way back here. Which will be a pain, but it's doable with my mini-map. I let out a sigh at the thought. At least it should mean that annoying livestream will be gone for the rest of my hunt against these scorpions. So there's that. Anyways, I should rest for the next three hours to recuperate my soul. Then I can fight Lucas with everything I have. Seeing as he'll be revived after I kill him anyways. A faint smirk stretches across my face at the idea of fighting someone immune to magic while I'm immune to physical damage. This'll be interesting, that's for sure. Previous ChapterNext Chapter |
