Chapter 30 - 030: How Are They Together...
Chapter 030 How Did They End Up Together...
"You’re headed back to school?" After getting in the car, Lin Feng asked Li Yong.
"No... no need, Teacher Lin, you can just drop me off somewhere, and I can take the bus back," Li Yong quickly replied, feeling embarrassed to trouble Teacher Lin to rescue him, much less ask him for a ride back to school.
Besides, even now, whenever he spoke to Teacher Lin, Li Yong felt extremely nervous and excited.
"Okay, but remember, try to keep your distance from those hoodlums; you’re still a student after all."
"Mm... mm..." Li Yong nodded repeatedly, feeling puzzled that Teacher Lin didn’t even ask him any further questions.
At that moment, Lin Feng had already driven to a bus stop, where he dropped off Li Yong and sped away.

"Brother Bao, let’s go out for a meal, huh? What do you think about the matter I mentioned to you the other day?" Li Wenkai was in a terrible mood these past two days. Just thinking about Lin Feng made him grind his teeth in anger; his sports car, not even a month old, was wrecked, and who wouldn’t be furious!
Unfortunately, Ding Wan’er was involved in the situation. Otherwise, just the cost of repairing the car would have been enough to bury that punk for a lifetime, or send him to jail if he couldn’t pay up.
With Ding Wan’er in the picture, there was no such option. He had to find another way.
"Little brother Wenkai, let’s talk when we meet up about that," Brother Bao replied leisurely, thinking to himself that there was no rush since he was being asked for a favor. If he acted too hastily and completed the task, where would he seek his benefits? It was better to drag it out a bit.
"Alright, that works. Shall we meet at the usual place later then?" Li Wenkai suggested—the so-called "usual place" was a well-known hotel in Tianhai City, famous for reasons every man understood.
"Sure, okay. We’ll touch base then," Brother Bao, hearing Li Wenkai’s words, thought it was a good suggestion. The place was great. Today he was especially frustrated, and pondering how Huangmao and his 20+ guys ending up in the hospital would cost a small fortune in medical bills, dammit. It’s just maddening when you run into a tough nut like that, to the extent that even drinking cold water would get stuck in your teeth.
The two sat at the dining table with a few scantily-clad girls attending to them, and Brother Bao, flanked on both sides by the girls, finally felt his mood lighten up a bit.
"Brother Bao, how do you think we should deal with the lesson-teaching?" Li Wenkai poured Brother Bao a glass of wine and then asked.
"What else could we do? Just send some boys to chop him up. Tell me which body part you want," Brother Bao casually replied, taking a bite of food offered by one of the girls.
"A direct confrontation? I’m afraid that won’t do. If we act openly, Ding Wan’er will surely suspect me. That would be bad. Couldn’t it be made to look like some kind of accident? The kind where evidence can’t be found?" Li Wenkai casually asked, not wanting Ding Wan’er to know he was dealing with Lin Feng in such a manner. If Ding Wan’er found out, he might never see her again.
"It’s just one person; what’s with all the fuss? Well, little brother, what do you propose? Just say the word, and I’ll send someone to take care of it," Brother Bao thought to himself, what a bother for just one person, was he sick or what?
Li Wenkai had already given it thought and whispered, "What if we frame it as a traffic accident? As for the benefits, Brother Bao, rest assured..."
"Haha... Fine, I’ll handle it. Just give me the guy’s information later, and that’s it. Come on, brother, let’s enjoy ourselves and forget business for now," Brother Bao raised his glass.
As the plan to fix Lin Feng was taking shape, Li Wenkai’s spirits were lifted, and he drank with Brother Bao, treating him like a brother.

The next morning, after having breakfast, Lin Feng drove to Ding Wan’er’s house as agreed to pick her up for work.
But just as Lin Feng had parked the car and gotten out, he saw through the gate that there were three cars parked on Ding Wan’er’s lawn. Lin Feng knew that a person like Ding Wan’er couldn’t possibly be without a car, yet she had him drive her around. Interesting, was she planning to continue using him as a shield?
However, the old man had asked him to see her and even entrusted him with a letter for her, so there must be some connection. Taking care of her a bit was no big deal.
"Ding dong," Lin Feng pressed the doorbell at the gate.
The gate opened with a "click," and Ding Wan’er’s voice came through a speaker.
"Lin Feng, just hang around for a bit; I’ll be right out."
Hearing Ding Wan’er’s voice, Lin Feng didn’t say anything and casually leaned against a tree while surveying Ding Wan’er’s residence; a standalone two-story villa with a large lawn, a few trees, and a four-car garage attached to one side of the villa. The overall impression was very simple, but also very pleasing to the eye, and it didn’t have the ostentatious feel of other wealthy homes. He evaluated it internally and found it to be quite nice.
"Lin Feng, have you been waiting long?" Ding Wan’er’s pleasant voice reached Lin Feng’s ears. He turned around to see that Ding Wan’er was dressed beautifully today in a gorgeous long dress, simple and elegant, her hair not let down but instead tied into a ponytail, making her appear even more pure and cute.
"I didn’t have to wait long, you look very beautiful today," Lin Feng complimented without any pretense.
Um...
"Thank you," Ding Wan’er softly said, although her face turned slightly red. She thought to herself, ’I’ve always been beautiful, how come you only noticed today? But it’s not bad, my effort dressing up this morning wasn’t wasted.’
She just hadn’t expected that Lin Feng, who usually spoke so little, would be so direct with such a comment.
"Wait, don’t move, there’s something on you," Lin Feng said, and then he headed straight for Ding Wan’er.
When Ding Wan’er heard Lin Feng’s warning, she didn’t dare to move. She had been extremely afraid of insects since childhood, very timid, and she obediently stood still, afraid that any sudden movement would cause the insect to scurry around and scare her even more. However, as Lin Feng got closer to Ding Wan’er, her heart started to race, feeling Lin Feng’s masculine presence up close—calm and tranquil. She didn’t know why, but it gave her a particularly strong sense of safety.
Ding Wan’er’s heartbeat quickened. Lin Feng’s remark about something being on her was one thing, but his sudden approach was another...
When she saw Lin Feng reach out his hand towards her, Ding Wan’er was somewhat dumbstruck, watching as his hand moved towards her shoulder. Having never been in physical contact with any male before, she became even more flustered, unable to articulate her panic and shyness. Her face turned even redder, like a ripe apple.
This sudden closing of the distance made her momentarily overwhelmed.
"It’s nothing, it was just this little guy. Take a look," Lin Feng said, now showing Ding Wan’er the small spider he had caught on her shoulder.
"Ah!" Ding Wan’er screamed, retreating at a speed she would not have thought possible, then shakily spoke to Lin Feng in a rush, "Throw it away...throw it away quickly, ever since I was a child I’ve been terrified of insects, especially spiders. Throw it, it’s scaring me to death..."
"Oh, alright then." Hearing Ding Wan’er say that, Lin Feng threw the little spider away at once. He suddenly looked at Ding Wan’er and smiled. He hadn’t expected Ding Wan’er, such an intellectual woman, to be afraid of insects like spiders. But he quickly came to terms with it, realizing that regardless of Ding Wan’er’s status, she was still a woman, and women naturally have a sensitivity to insects.
When Ding Wan’er saw Lin Feng throw the spider away and then smile at her, she immediately realized what his smile implied. She may be a school principal, but she was scared of these insects, and there was nothing she could do about it. In that moment, blush involuntarily spread across her cheeks. Being so embarrassed in front of Lin Feng was quite mortifying...
"Ah! That, just now... it scared me... I’m going to wash my hands inside," she stammered.
Feeling Lin Feng’s gaze still on her, Ding Wan’er could no longer bear it and fled to her villa, rushing into her restroom. Looking at herself in the mirror, her cheeks were flushed brightly.
She couldn’t help but breathe deeply. She was a university president, what was wrong with her today.
At this moment, Ding Wan’er’s mind was a bit of a mess. She did not understand what was happening at all. Wasn’t she just afraid of insects? There was no need to run back home. Had her actions just now been too excessive?
But just as she thought of this, the memory of Lin Feng approaching her to catch the spider came back to her. She suddenly recalled the indescribable scent on Lin Feng’s body, and her face turned red again. She could not fathom for the life of her what was wrong with her today.
Staring at her own reflection in the mirror, Ding Wan’er was utterly bewildered. She wondered what had gotten into her today that she would behave in such a strange manner. Could it be that Lin Feng had influenced her? Otherwise, why would she suddenly...?
For a while, Ding Wan’er frowned, feeling more and more that it might be the case, and even speculated whether it was because of Lin Feng’s status as her fiance that she was so unsettled. But she had no feelings for Lin Feng, so why would she react like this? She did not understand...
Seeing Ding Wan’er dash into the villa, Lin Feng was also perplexed, thinking to himself that he was the one who had handled the spider, and if anyone needed to wash their hands, it was him. Why did she go? Well, the way Ding Wan’er reacted just now was quite interesting, though it was a bit too exaggerated to become flustered over just a smile...
Lin Feng checked his watch; it was almost time. He called out to Ding Wan’er from outside, "Keep an eye on the time, we’re going to be late."
Hearing Lin Feng’s voice, Ding Wan’er felt her mind stabilizing quite a bit. She quickly applied a bit of skincare cream, checked herself over to make sure everything was in place, and then joined Lin Feng as they left the villa together to drive to school.
Chen Yun, who lived not far from Ding Wan’er, could take one of two routes to work every day, both of which were quite similar. Today, on a whim, he chose the one that passed by Ding Wan’er’s house.
As he was passing by Ding Wan’er’s house, he casually glanced inside. But that one glance left Chen Yun utterly stunned.
Ding Wan’er’s home, where no man had ever been seen before, was now occupied by this man in the yard, seemingly ready to leave together? My goodness, this was huge gossip. Having worked at the school for almost 20 years, he had seen Ding Wan’er when she was young and knew everything when he became the principal. He had never heard of Ding Wan’er being close to any man. All her suitors had been turned away at the door. Who was this man who had the audacity to do this?
He stared hard and finally got a clear look. Lin... Lin Feng, it was actually Lin Feng... So it was Lin Feng. How could it be him?
My God, Chen Yun suddenly realized the truth. No wonder Ding Wan’er had that expression when she introduced Lin Feng back then—they must have been a couple who had an argument and were giving each other the silent treatment. He thought to himself, thankfully he hadn’t done anything to Lin Feng. Otherwise, Ding Wan’er would’ve surely fired him.
Chen Yun couldn’t help speeding past, covering his mouth to snicker. So they were both living together and still put on an act at school. But there must be a reason they wanted to keep it a secret, so he should not pry. It’s best just to do his own job.
It seemed that he should be a bit nicer to Lin Feng from now on...
Neither Lin Feng nor Ding Wan’er noticed that the car that had just passed by belonged to Chen Yun...
